Discovering Racines - Ratschings

Racines, nestled among the peaks of Val Ridanna, Val Giovo, and Val Racines, is one of South Tyrol’s most authentic destinations, perfect for vacations focused on nature, sport, and tranquility in every season. Located just a few kilometers from Vipiteno, it blends unspoiled Alpine landscapes with local traditions.

In summer, Racines is a paradise for hiking enthusiasts: well-marked trails lead past panoramic alpine huts, forests, and mountain ridges. A highlight is the trail to the Stanghe Waterfalls, a dramatic canyon crossed by suspension bridges and walkways. Mountain bikers will also find scenic routes immersed in nature.

In winter, the area transforms into a hub for alpine skiing thanks to the modern Racines–Giovo ski resort, offering over 25 km of slopes, state‑of‑the‑art lifts, and a snowpark. Nearby Val Ridanna features pristine trails for cross‑country skiing, snowshoeing, and ski touring in a silent, snowy landscape.

For those combining sport and culture, the baroque Wolfsthurn Castle in Mareta, home of the Provincial Museum of Hunting and Fishing, is a must, as is the Provincial Mining Museum housed in the old Monteneve Mine at Ridanna.

With spa hotels, cozy mountain inns, and genuine local cuisine, Racines is the ideal destination for an authentic Alpine getaway blending nature, activity, and tradition.
