Discovering Colle Isarco

Colle Isarco (Gossensass) rises along the historic Brenner Pass road, just a stone’s throw from the Austrian border.

The elegant Jugendstil Kurhaus, today a cultural events venue, recalls the village’s spa-town heritage. Nearby, the Church of the Immaculate Conception stands alongside the Chapel of St. Barbara, both dating back to the 15th century.

Dominating the skyline are the ruins of Strassberg Castle, perched on a rocky spur. Hiking enthusiasts can explore trails in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park and follow sections of the old Kaiserjäger paths.

Mountain biking and cycle touring thrive on the Valle Isarco cycle path, while in winter the area becomes a paradise for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

In summer and autumn, Colle Isarco comes alive with traditional fairs, artisan markets and open-air concerts. South Tyrolean cuisine delights with speck-filled canederli, Schlutzkrapfen, apple strudel and native wines such as Lagrein and Gewürztraminer.
