Discovering Sachet

Sachet (BL), a hamlet of Vallada Agordina, is an authentic corner of the Belluno Dolomites, nestled in the Biois Valley, ideal for those seeking nature, culture, and tranquility. Located at over 1,000 meters above sea level, the village is surrounded by forests of spruce, larch, and beech, with hiking trails leading to the Cime di Pezza, Monte Celat, and Col di Frena, offering spectacular views of the Pale di San Martino and the Marmolada, both part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The area preserves its Ladin soul, visible in the traditional tabià (wooden barns), historic fountains, and houses adorned with sacred frescoes—earning the valley the nickname “Valley of the Saints at the Windows.” Among its cultural treasures stands the Church of Saints Simon and Jude, declared a national monument in 1984, featuring frescoes by Paris Bordone, a pupil of Titian.

Sachet also keeps alive local culinary traditions such as paste da fornel and carfogn, festive desserts, and legends like that of the forest sprite Ganbaretol. Its strategic location makes it easy to reach nearby towns like Falcade, Canale d’Agordo, and the San Romedio Sanctuary, as well as enjoy the scenic cycle and walking path along the Biois stream.
