Discovering Domegge di Cadore

Domegge di Cadore is the ideal destination for those seeking a holiday immersed in nature, tranquility, and history. Located on the right bank of the Piave River, in a splendid valley surrounded by the peaks of the Dolomites such as Spalti di Toro, Tudaio, Antelao, and Marmarole, Domegge offers breathtaking views in every season.

There are numerous hiking trails, including the Alta Via No. 6 and paths leading to the local mountain huts. For easier walks, you can choose the lakefront path or the Pian dei Buoi plateau, which offers spectacular views. Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy the famous Lunga Via delle Dolomiti, the bike path connecting Calalzo to Dobbiaco.

In winter, Domegge offers two cross-country skiing tracks, one 5 km long and one illuminated 1.5 km track. Nearby are the ski areas of Auronzo-Misurina and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Sports lovers will also find tennis courts, a national shooting center, and the modern PalaFedon arena.

From a cultural perspective, Domegge is rich in historical landmarks. Highlights include Casa Valmassoi, a 14th-century Gothic palace, and churches frescoed by artists related to the Vecellio family, including Marco and Francesco, cousin and brother of Titian. Not to be missed are the Gothic church of San Leonardo in Grea, the Hermitage of the Hermits on Monte Froppa, the Madonna della Neve in Val di Croce, and the evocative Church of the Armistice.
