Discovering Trippachscharte
Also known as Forcella Trippach, the Trippachscharte lies within the municipality of Ahrntal (Valle Aurina) in the province of Bolzano. It connects the Kegelgasslalm alpine hut area to the summit of Trippachspitze (3,271 m), offering a panoramic route through glaciers, rocky ridges, and glacial valleys. The trail is classified as high mountain level (T5) and requires strong physical fitness, alpine experience, and proper equipment, especially for exposed sections and unstable terrain.
The route begins at Kegelgasslalm, a rustic hut where overnight stays are available by reservation. From there, hikers traverse alpine meadows, scree slopes, and snowfields, eventually reaching the pass with its unmatched views of the main Zillertal range, including peaks like the Großer Löffler, Kleiner Löffler, and Östliche Floitenspitze.
From a naturalistic perspective, the area features pristine high-altitude environments, ideal habitats for rare alpine flora and fauna. It’s a perfect destination for those seeking adventure hiking, landscape photography, and outdoor tourism far from crowded trails.
The Trippachscharte offers one of the most authentic and untamed experiences in the South Tyrolean Dolomites, where the mountains reveal their purest and most majestic form.
