Discovering Lago di Favogna

Favogna Lake is a piece of paradise nestled in the Sexten Dolomites, located in Favogna di Sotto in the municipality of Magrè on the Wine Road. Situated at an altitude of 1,034 metres, this enchanting lake is famous for its crystal-clear waters and the breathtaking landscape that surrounds it. The 10 hectares of biotope surrounding the lake are home to more than 35 species of orchids, the crayfish and many other endangered species and plants A small jetty offers the possibility of swimming in silky water with a panoramic view of the romantic St Leonhard's Church and the surrounding mountains.

A small curiosity: Favogna is home to the highest winegrowing estate in the whole of South Tyrol. Thanks to the temperate climate of this plateau, which is protected from the north winds and mitigated by the warm wind from Lake Garda, an excellent Müller Thurgau is produced. In summer you can walk, hike, climb, cycle and swim in the lake, in winter the area offers wonderful snowy landscapes and the possibility of skating on the frozen surface of the lake.

Favogna Lake can be reached from Cortaccia via a winding panoramic road. Its strategic location makes it easy to reach other destinations in the Sexten Dolomites, such as the Three Peaks of Lavaredo and the Locatelli Refuge. It is the perfect place to relax, discover nature, and be captivated by the magic of the mountains.
