Valle di Cadore is a charming town in the province of Belluno, located in the flat valley floor at the foot of the impressive Antelao (3264 m), one of the highest peaks of the Dolomites, and facing the distinctive Sasso di Mezzodì. Situated along the road connecting Centro Cadore to the Val Boite and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Valle di Cadore is the first town you encounter, also including the hamlets of Vallesina and Venas, scattered around the lake beneath the main road.

Along the way, Roman artifacts can be discovered, preserved at the nearby Archaeological Museum of Pieve di Cadore. The walk ends at the 18th-century parish church of S. Martino, built on the foundations of an ancient Roman castle, overlooking the underlying Valle del Boite.
