Discovering Sarnonico

Sarnonico is a charming village in the Upper Val di Non, located on the Alta Anaunia plateau. Thanks to its sunny position and dry climate, it is an ideal destination for a summer holiday surrounded by nature and relaxation. The village combines beautiful landscapes with a rich historical and cultural heritage, featuring churches, palaces and castles that tell centuries of history.

Don’t miss the Church of San Lorenzo, one of the oldest in the valley, with wooden altars from the 17th and 18th centuries and original frescoes; the Church of Santa Maria, with its Romanesque bell tower and Renaissance portal; and the Church of San Giorgio, with a main altar from 1641. Among the historic buildings are Morenberg Castle, an ancient noble residence, Palazzo Morenberg, a Renaissance gem now home to the town hall, and Casa Bolego, in the heart of the village.

Nature lovers can explore numerous green trails, such as those leading to Novella or Margherita, offering panoramic hikes. For sports enthusiasts, the Dolomiti Golf Club features one of the most beautiful 18-hole courses in the Alps, while the sports center offers tennis courts.

In winter, Sarnonico is perfect for cross-country skiing, with trails connecting Cavareno and Regole di Malosco, while nearby Passo Mendola offers alpine skiing. Among the most popular events are the Feast of San Lorenzo in August and Flavours and Colours of Autumn, celebrating local traditions and seasonal products.
