Discovering Rumo
The Valley of Rumo and the Maddalene mountain chain, in the heart of Val di Non, are a perfect destination for those seeking authentic nature, far from mass tourism. Here time follows the rhythm of the mountains: meadows, forests and unspoiled landscapes create a true paradise for hikers and ski mountaineers.
The Maddalene, stretching between Val d’Ultimo, Val di Non and Val di Sole, are gentle peaks with rolling pastures that burst into colorful blooms in spring. Well-marked trails suit every level, including the famous Bonacossa Trail and the Sentiero Italia. In winter, ski mountaineering can be enjoyed on routes suitable both for experts and beginners.
Alongside nature, the valley offers a rich cultural heritage: Altaguarda Castle, the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Bresimo, the parish church of Saint Stephen in Revò, plus many churches, frescoes and noble residences.
The Valley of Rumo is composed of nine hamlets, called cappelle, each rich in votive chapels, frescoes and rustic architecture. The main center, Marcena, is the starting point for excursions and ascents to the Maddalene, even in winter with skis. In autumn, mushroom foraging adds another reason to visit, making the valley an ideal destination all year round.
