Discovering Brez
Brez, now part of the municipality of Novella, lies in the heart of the Val di Non, perched on a moraine terrace at about 800 meters above sea level. The village opens like a fan over the evocative Valle della Novella, a landscape of spectacular canyons, ancient forests, and the famous apple orchards.
The historic center preserves the authenticity of Trentino villages, with rural houses, stone portals, and ancient frescoes. Among the highlights are the Church of San Floriano, with 15th-century frescoes, and the historic Casa De Avancini, featuring a corner tower and a sundial dating back to 1697. Also noteworthy are Casa Ruffini and the Monument to the Miner, which recall the area’s traditions.
From a naturalistic perspective, Brez is a privileged starting point for excursions into the Parco Fluviale Novella, a spectacular canyon that can be visited with expert guides, as well as for trails connecting the village to nearby towns of the Val di Non.
