Discovering Andriano

Andriano is a charming village in South Tyrol located along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, nestled between Bolzano and Merano. Surrounded by vineyards, apple orchards, and ancient woodlands at the foot of Mount Macaion, it offers a perfect blend of nature, culture, and culinary tradition.

Known as the oldest wine-growing municipality in South Tyrol, Andriano is home to the historic Andriano Winery, founded in 1893. Here, renowned wines such as Lagrein, Pinot Blanc, and Sauvignon are produced and can be enjoyed during tastings or local wine events.

Among the natural highlights are the Gaida Gorge, the ancient yew forest, and scenic trails leading to the Castelforte ruins and Wolfsthurn Castle, all immersed in lush greenery. Hiking routes of varying difficulty include a section of the Way of St. James, which connects Andriano to Nalles.

On the southern slope of the village, archaeological remains of a Roman villa with underfloor heating have been discovered, revealing the area's ancient strategic importance. The Church of Saint Valentine, the village’s patron saint, and the historic center with its stone houses enrich the cultural offering.

Andriano is an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday immersed in nature, history, and fine wine, off the beaten path yet rich in authenticity.
