Discovering Nals
Nalles, located between 300 and 1000 meters above sea level in the heart of the Adige Valley, is the first village of the famous South Tyrolean Wine Road. Here, gentle hills covered with vineyards and renowned wine cellars invite you to taste quality wines, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Thanks to the particularly mild climate, Nalles is also known as the “village of roses”: numerous rose gardens fill the village with colors and fragrances, making a stroll through its streets a delight for all the senses.
The historical and cultural heritage of Nalles is equally fascinating: Castel del Cigno (Schwanburg), with its ancient cellars, the legendary Castel Bavaro (Payersberg) overlooking the village, and Castel Stachelburg tell stories of centuries past. Not to be missed are the parish church of St. Ulrich, the church of St. Apollonia in Sirmiano, the traditional farmhouses, and the ancient residences scattered throughout the area.
For those who love nature and outdoor activities, Nalles offers walking routes along streams, such as the Grissiano, which carved spectacular gorges with the famous “Knappenlöcher”, remnants of former mining activities, and cycling routes along the Via Claudia Augusta bike path.
The village also hosts typical events throughout the year: gourmet weeks with local specialties like Tyrolean dumplings, festivals dedicated to asparagus, the harvests of apples, chestnuts, and wine. Sports enthusiasts can attend or participate in the international mountain bike competition and the international vintage motorcycle mountain prize. Nalles is the perfect place for a holiday full of relaxation, culture, and traditions, immersed in the beauty of the Dolomites and surrounding orchards.
