Discovering Tres
In the heart of the Predaia Plateau, Tres stands out for its panoramic location and its rich history and traditions. The village unfolds across three hills – Doss, San Rocco, and Mimiela – each telling part of its story: Doss once hosted an ancient hillfort, San Rocco was the site of municipal assemblies, while Mimiela completes the village’s profile. During Roman times, Tres was home to a military garrison, and in the Middle Ages, it became known as a village of skilled stonemasons.
Among the main points of interest is the Church of Sant’Agnese, a Gothic-style building located on Doss Hill. Built in 1300 and renovated in the 15th century by master builders from Como, it is renowned for its steep shingle-covered roof, stone portal, and frescoes by the Baschenis brothers. The Church of San Rocco, surrounded by the greenery of Prà del Lac Park, serves as the parish church. In the nearby hamlet of Vion, the Church of San Sigismondo, documented since 1537, is also worth a visit.
In winter, the area is equipped for cross-country skiing, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing, while in summer, it becomes a hub for hikes to welcoming mountain huts and alpine pastures.
For families, Sores Park, an adventure park nestled in nature, is a must-visit. Events such as the Moonlight Torchlight Walk, the Val di Non-Marathon, and Quater passi ent el bosc de Tres bring the village to life throughout the year.
