Discovering Comelico Superiore
Comelico Superiore, in the heart of the Dolomiti Bellunesi on the border with Austria, is an authentic destination that combines historic villages, unspoiled nature, and Alpine traditions. At over 1,200 meters above sea level, it offers breathtaking landscapes of spruce forests, mountain pastures, and Dolomite peaks.
The municipality includes four villages: Candide, the oldest and home to the town hall, with the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and historic residences; Padola, the most lively tourist center, known for its ski area and its connection to the Dolomiti NordicSki circuit; Dosoledo, with its picturesque historic center and the traditional Carnevale di Dosoledo; and Casamazzagno, a small and charming hamlet with panoramic views and rural architecture.
Outdoor lovers will find a wide network of trails leading to the Popera Group, Monte Cavallino, Monte Aiarnola, and Cima Vallona, with routes that pass by the Rifugio Lunelli, Rifugio Rinfreddo, Malga Coltrondo, and Passo Silvella. In summer, trekking and mountain biking are the main activities, while in winter alpine skiing and cross-country skiing take center stage thanks to the lifts in Padola and the connections with Alta Pusteria.
Alongside nature, Comelico Superiore preserves a strong bond with Ladin culture and traditional crafts, from woodworking to the production of typical cheeses. Ethnographic museums and local festivals allow visitors to experience the authentic soul of these Alpine communities.
