Tonadico is a hamlet of the municipality of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza and represents the oldest settlement in the Primiero valley. The village lies at the foot of the impressive ruins of Castel Pietra, perched on a rocky spur at the entrance of the Val Canali. Its territory extends within the Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino Nature Park, a precious protected area preserving pristine landscapes and rich biodiversity.
The location of Tonadico makes it an ideal starting point to explore the natural and cultural beauties of the area. Nearby are Passo Cereda, the renowned resort of San Martino di Castrozza, and Passo Rolle, perfect winter destinations for alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and mountaineering. These places offer a wide range of sports activities immersed in breathtaking scenery, ideal both for adventure seekers and for those wishing to enjoy nature peacefully.
Just minutes from Tonadico are Val Canali and Val Veneggia, two of the most beautiful and scenic valleys in Trentino. Val Canali is famous for its many traditional farmhouses and for Villa Welsperg, a historic mansion now the headquarters of the Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino Nature Park. The nearby Val Veneggia is one of the region’s most important natural areas, ideal for hiking and walks in enchanting landscapes.
In the center of Tonadico, you can admire the church of San Vittore, overlooking the village, and Palazzo Scopoli, an ancient building housing the municipal offices.
