Discovering Tione di Trento

Tione di Trento is a welcoming mountain town located in the heart of the Giudicarie region, in Trentino, halfway between Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites. Surrounded by forests, mountains, and crystal-clear waters, Tione is an ideal destination for those seeking nature, relaxation, and authentic traditions.

The town is the main urban center of the area, rich in services, shops, and sports and hospitality facilities. Among its highlights is the Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta and San Giovanni Battista, with very ancient origins, majestic interiors, eight side chapels, frescoes by Simone Baschenis, and 16th-century wooden sculptures. Also fascinating is the small church of San Vigilio, overlooking the Sarca River, a place full of spirituality and history. Just outside the village is the Sanctuary of San Giovanni, surrounded by countryside, housing a modern ceramic artwork by Don Luciano Carnessali.

As you stroll through the center, you’ll come across historic plaques commemorating key events in local history, such as the passage of Gattamelata, the War of the Walnuts, and the 1809 executions. A unique experience is the Fountain Trail, a walking route through 19th-century washing places, tanks, and fountains, once hubs of social life.

There are many opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts: hiking in nearby natural parks, trekking to mountain huts, cycling along the Sarca bike path, and in winter, snow sports in nearby ski resorts. Don’t miss the Comano Thermal Baths, just a few kilometers away, perfect for relaxation.

Tione is also a strategic base to visit iconic places like Riva del Garda, Madonna di Campiglio, and Lake Molveno. The calendar is full of cultural events, festivals, and markets, keeping local traditions alive throughout the year.
