Discovering Terzolas
In Terragnolo, a small village in the Valli del Leno, history and nature come together in an authentic and unspoiled landscape. Located just a few minutes from Rovereto, between Vallarsa and Trambileno, the village overlooks the valley carved by the Leno stream and offers postcard-perfect views: terraced fields with historic dry-stone walls, blooming buckwheat fields, fresh waters perfect for cooling off in summer, and forests that turn golden in autumn. Among the trees, you can encounter deer, squirrels, and other wildlife, making every walk a unique experience, especially during mushroom season.
History comes alive on the surrounding mountains, particularly on Monte Pasubio, where visitors can follow the trails of the Great War. In Geroli, one of the eight Austro-Hungarian military cemeteries, recently restored, can be explored with a free downloadable audio guide. Not to be missed are the medieval church of Santa Maria Maddalena and the Ancient Venetian Sawmill, important testimonies of the area’s past.
For hiking enthusiasts, Terragnolo offers several natural trails such as the Sentiero dele Teragnòle, which tells the story of the village women, and the Sentiero della Forra del Lupo, illustrating the strength and hard work of the local men. Mountain biking enthusiasts can enjoy panoramic routes to Masetto, Malga Borcola, Monte Maggio, and Monte Pasubio, while in winter, sledding and snowshoeing provide exciting experiences on the snowy slopes.
Tradition and culture can also be discovered through the tombolo lace school, where the art of lace-making shines, and local events like “Sassi e non solo”, the first European festival of dry-stone construction, and Slow Food walks dedicated to buckwheat, a local excellence now recognized as a Presidio. Terragnolo is a place where nature, history, and tradition intertwine, offering authentic experiences for every visitor.
