Discovering Siror
In the beautiful Valle del Primiero, Siror is a characteristic, rustic, and peaceful mountain village located at the foot of the majestic Sass Maor. The surrounding area is a vast expanse of meadows and woods, part of the picturesque Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Natural Park, crossed by the panoramic cycle path that connects all the towns in the valley. Siror is the northernmost municipality in the valley and is situated along the road connecting Fiera di Primiero to San Martino di Castrozza and the Passo Rolle, strategically nestled between the slopes of Sass Maor and the peaks of the Pale di San Martino. The hamlets of Ronzi, Polina, and Petina, together with the Dismoni meadows, offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the entire valley.
The historic center of Siror is a small treasure trove of traditions: rich in historic fountains and washhouses, it testifies to the town’s deep connection with water. Walking through the streets, you can admire numerous murals that decorate the old houses, elements that in winter provide the setting for the traditional Christmas Market, one of the most anticipated and charming events in the area.
In summer, numerous easy and accessible trails start from the center to explore the surrounding nature, such as the pleasant walk along the embankment of the Cismon River or the path towards the center of Nolesca. In winter, the ski slopes of San Martino di Castrozza are reachable within minutes, making Siror an ideal base for winter sports.
Not to be missed is also the Desmontegada, a traditional late-September festival celebrating the return of the herds from the summer pastures, a moment of great local involvement and folklore.
