Discovering Sant'Orsola Terme
Located at 925 meters above sea level in the picturesque Valle dei Mocheni, Sant’Orsola Terme is renowned throughout Italy for its production of berries. Strawberries, raspberries, currants, blackberries and blueberries grow in ideal conditions and are transformed into delicious grappas, jams, juices, and candied fruits that reflect the authentic spirit of the area.
The village also has a past linked to thermal traditions: until the spa closed, the arsenical-ferruginous waters were used for their healing properties.
Highlights include the Pietra Viva Museum, dedicated to minerals, the Val Pegara Waterfall, where the stream flows into the Fersina River, and Malga Cambroncoi. Reaching the village from Pergine Valsugana, the road climbs along the right side of the valley, leading to a sunny rural landscape with traditional houses, apartments, hotels and restaurants serving typical Trentino cuisine.
Sant’Orsola’s berries, now sold all over Italy, can also be purchased locally, along with mountain honey, flavored grappas, and herbal teas. Nature lovers will enjoy hiking and MTB trails: from the tour of the upper farms to walks along the Fersina stream, where you can discover mills, sawmills and ancient mines — a true open-air museum.
