Discovering Malé

Malé, the administrative and economic center of the Val di Sole, is located in a panoramic position in the middle valley, elevated about forty meters above the valley floor of the Noce River. The village, with a modern appearance due to reconstruction after the 1892 fire, is characterized by numerous squares that tell the story of its long commercial and administrative tradition. Today, Malé is a reference point for those wishing to discover the valley, with an economy ranging from craftsmanship to commerce, alongside agriculture and livestock farming, as well as the famous San Matteo Autumn Market.

Malé hosts various sports and cultural organizations, such as the Val di Sole Study Center and the volunteer Fire Brigade. Among the sports facilities, the Acquacenter Val di Sole stands out, with three indoor pools, ideal for relaxing after a day outdoors. The sunny location on a plateau, at the confluence of the Noce and Rabbies streams, makes Malé perfect for sports activities all year round.

In summer, you can choose from rafting on the Noce River, adventures at the Flying Park, hiking or mountain biking. In winter, skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing dominate. Climbing enthusiasts will find a well-equipped climbing gym in Malé.

Not to be missed in the heart of the village is the Deanery Church of Santa Maria Assunta (16th century) and the Ethnographic Museum of Solandra Civilization, housed in the former Palazzo Pretorio, preserving testimonies of local life and traditions, from craftsmanship to forestry. Also interesting is a visit to the Venetian Sawmill dating back to 1770 and the historic Marinelli Forge of Pondasio, a rare example of an Alpine hydraulic forge still in operation.
