Discovering Passo di Sant'Osvaldo

At 827 meters above sea level, the Passo di Sant’Osvaldo is a charming alpine pass located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in the province of Pordenone, and serves as a natural link between Val Cimoliana, Valcellina, and the Vajont Valley. This scenic mountain route is a real gem for lovers of the outdoors, offering hiking trails, cycling routes, and breathtaking views.

From the pass, you descend toward Cimolais, gateway to the Val Cimoliana and the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, or toward Erto, in the heart of the evocative Vajont Valley, a place rich in history and memory. The area offers changing landscapes, from dense woods to open views over the Carnic Prealps to the north and the Belluno Prealps to the south, which meet right at this geographical divide.

The pass is crossed by the State Road 251, popular among motorcyclists, road cyclists, and slow travelers exploring this authentic corner of the eastern Alps. Nearby, you’ll find a quaint chapel dedicated to Saint Oswald, adding a peaceful, spiritual atmosphere to this mountain saddle.
