Discovering Passo di Lares

Passo di Lares, located in the heart of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, is a top hiking destination for those who love authentic mountains, history, and glacial landscapes.

Nestled between Val Genova and Val Rendena, Passo di Lares can be reached via challenging hiking trails such as SAT 214 from Malga Genova or SAT 215 from Rifugio Carè Alto. Along the way, hikers encounter the spectacular Lares Waterfalls, the wild Lake Lares at 2,650 m, and the Lares Glacier, which reveals relics from World War I as it retreats.

The pass is dominated by towering peaks like Crozzon di Lares (3,354 m), a historic summit of the Southern Rhaetian Alps, and Corno di Cavento, both linked to episodes of the White War. The area is rich in trenches, walkways, and military outposts such as the Honved Line, which tells the story of Austro-Hungarian and Italian soldiers living at high altitude.
