Weather Lago Mandron: Weather forecast for Monday
Discovering Lago Mandron
Lago Mandron, located at an altitude of 2,409 meters in the heart of the Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta, is a glacial gem nestled between the Vedrette del Mandrone and Lobbie. Accessible via trail no. 212 from Malga Bedole in Val Genova, the hike offers an immersive experience through roaring waterfalls, glacial ponds, and breathtaking views of the Adamello-Presanella Group peaks.
The lake’s clear waters, about 7 meters deep, reflect the majesty of the surrounding glaciers, while its shores are dotted with cotton grass and sedges, adding a poetic touch to the alpine landscape. Nearby, you’ll find smaller glacial pools and the scenic Cascata del Mandrone, source of the Sarca River.
Just a short distance away stands the Rifugio Mandrone – Città di Trento (2,449 m), a historic mountain hut inaugurated in 1959 by the SAT (Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini), offering meals and overnight stays. Only five minutes from the hut is the Centro Studi Glaciologico CAI “Julius Payer”, one of the highest museums in Europe, dedicated to alpine glacier research and to the explorer Julius Payer, the first to summit Adamello.
Lago Mandron is an ideal destination for experienced hikers, nature photographers, and geology enthusiasts. In summer, visitors can observe the slow retreat of the glaciers and learn about climate change through the educational panels at the glaciological center.
