Discovering Forcella di Sabbia

Nestled in the wild heart of the Friulian Dolomites, Forcella di Sabbia is a hiking destination of rare beauty and authenticity. This alpine pass, set between the peaks of the Pramaggiore and Monfalcon di Montanaia groups, is accessible only on foot via well-marked CAI trails, such as routes 362 and 363, which traverse pristine high-mountain environments.

Forcella di Sabbia is often crossed during the Friulian Dolomites loop trek, a multi-day itinerary connecting historic mountain huts like Rifugio Pordenone and Rifugio Padova.

From a naturalistic perspective, the area boasts rich biodiversity: chamois, deer, capercaillies, and golden eagles are frequently spotted along the trails. The alpine vegetation ranges from beech forests to dwarf pines, with spectacular summer blooms, including the iconic gentians of the renowned “Truoi dai Sclops” trail.
