Discovering Val Formiga Pass

The Val Formiga Pass, located in the municipality of Stenico, is a little-known but highly scenic hiking destination nestled in the untouched landscapes of the Giudicarie Esteriori, within the boundaries of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park.

Positioned between the slopes of Monte Valandro and Monte Brento, the pass is accessible via well-marked trails starting from Val d’Algone, Villa Banale, or directly from Stenico, winding through spruce forests, alpine meadows, and crystal-clear streams.

Along the way, hikers encounter historic alpine huts such as Malga Valandro, and panoramic viewpoints offering stunning vistas of the Brenta Dolomites, the Adamello Group, and the Giudicarie Valley. The area is ideal for slow tourism, with hiking, e-bike tours, and nature treks far from the crowded tourist routes. In summer, the Val Formiga Pass offers cool, peaceful refuge, while in autumn it transforms into a magical corner thanks to the vibrant colors of the foliage.

The biodiversity here is rich and protected: deer, chamois, marmots, and a wide variety of alpine flora make every outing a chance for discovery. The Val Formiga Pass is perfect for those seeking an authentic connection with Trentino’s Mountain soul—between silence, nature, and tradition.
