Discovering Val d'Agola Lake

Located at 1,595 meters above sea level, Lake Val d’Agola (also known as Lago di Valagola) is a hidden gem within the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, nestled among the peaks of the Brenta Group, including Cima Tosa, Doss del Sabion, and Cima Nardis. Fed by glacial meltwaters from Agola and Prato Fiorito, the lake stretches approximately 300 meters in length and 140 meters in width, with a maximum depth of 4 meters.

The most accessible trail begins in Sant’Antonio di Mavignola, following a scenic forest road of about 4 km through Val Brenta, leading to the panoramic Malga Valagola, a rest stop and observation point. The route is suitable for families and offers breathtaking views of the Dolomites. The loop trail around the lake provides moments of pure tranquility, surrounded by the lush forest of Cantin.

From a naturalistic perspective, the lake is home to minnows and rainbow trout, and if you look up, you might spot the golden eagle, the symbol of the valley. In summer, the sound of cowbells from grazing cattle accompanies your walk, while in autumn the landscape glows with warm, vibrant colors.
