Discovering Passo del Parol
Passo del Parol, located in the southern sector of Monte Baldo, is a little-known yet captivating mountain pass nestled in the wild nature of Trentino. Positioned between the Rifugio Graziani and the Val del Parol, this pass is an ideal destination for hikers seeking authentic landscapes, rich biodiversity, and peaceful surroundings.
The most popular route starts at Rifugio Graziani, on the Brentonico Plateau, and winds through alpine meadows and historic mountain huts such as Malga Campo and Malga Campei, reaching scenic points like Bocca Paltrane. From May to July, the area becomes a natural botanical garden: blue orchids, red lilies, gentians, and the rare silver geranium bloom across the fields, while rhododendrons, dwarf pines, and blueberries enrich the terrain.
Passo del Parol is perfect for medium-difficulty loop hikes, with moderate elevation gain and panoramic views over the Trentino side of Monte Baldo. The area is sunny and requires proper trekking gear, though it poses no major technical challenges.
Culturally, the region preserves the rural identity of the Giudicarie and the Brentonico Plateau, with traditions rooted in alpine farming, seasonal grazing, and biodiversity conservation. The pass is easily accessible by car from Rovereto Sud, via Mori and San Valentino, up to Rifugio Graziani, the main starting point for excursions.
