Discovering Cimoneri
Cimoneri, a hamlet of the municipality of Cimone (TN), is a charming mountain village nestled on the slopes of Monte Bondone, in the heart of Trentino. Historically part of the rural district bearing its name, Cimoneri also includes the localities of Pifferi, Gazzi, Buzzi, Petrolli, and part of the hamlet Pietra, as documented in the archives of Cimone’s rural community.
This small settlement preserves the authentic atmosphere of Trentino farmsteads, with stone terraces, larch forests, and vineyards cultivated with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, ideal for producing the mountain sparkling wine Trentodoc. The landscape is perfect for nature hikes, scenic trekking, and food and wine experiences immersed in the alpine environment.
One of the most heartfelt traditions is the Barcarola, a celebration held every 25 years to commemorate the emigration of the “Cimoneri” to America in the early 20th century, in search of work and opportunity. This unique event blends historical memory, folk music, and community spirit, making Cimoneri a place where Alpine culture remains vibrant and shared.
Its proximity to Trento, the peaceful surroundings, and the richness of local traditions make Cimoneri an ideal destination for those seeking slow tourism, sustainable travel, and authentic experiences in the Dolomites of Trentino.
