Discovering Belluno

Belluno, an elegant Alpine town overlooking the Valbelluna, is the cultural center of its province and the gateway to the Dolomites. Nestled between the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and the surrounding Alpine valleys, Belluno impresses with its historic center rich in art, history, and panoramic views.

Highlights include the Palazzo Rosso (Town Hall), Palazzo dei Rettori, Civic Tower, Victory Bridge, and the refined Palazzo Crepadona, now home to the public library. The Civic Museum is housed in the stunning Palazzo Fulcis, a noble residence with major art collections. The Municipal Theatre, in neoclassical style, remains a hub of local cultural life.

Among the most anticipated events is the Ex Tempore Wood Sculpture Competition, held in early November before the Feast of Saint Martin, the city's patron. It features artists, antique markets, and tastings of local delights like chestnuts and new wine. In October, Oltre le Vette offers exhibitions, films, and talks celebrating mountain culture.

In summer, Belluno is a perfect base for exploring the Dolomiti Bellunesi, cycling, walking along the Piave River, or visiting nearby villages. In winter, it's ideally located near resorts like Nevegal, Val di Zoldo, Cortina, Alleghe, Arabba, and Falcade, with access to ski slopes, snowshoe trails, and cross-country skiing.
