Discovering Tirolo

Situated above the spa town of Meran, Tirol is the perfect destination for a holiday immersed in nature, with hiking and walking opportunities throughout South Tyrol. The village offers a trail network of over 70 km, suitable for all levels and altitudes: from gentle botanical walks, to mid-mountain paths, mountain biking tours, and high-altitude trekking on the plateau of the scenic Sopranes Lakes in the Texel Group Nature Park.

Ideal for challenging high-altitude hikes or relaxing walks with the whole family, the cable cars and chairlifts in Tirol allow visitors to quickly overcome elevation differences. The Alta Muta cable car starts in Tirol and leads to the Muta farms beneath the eponymous peak, while numerous other chairlifts connect the village with Meran, making thematic trails and excursions even more accessible.

But Tirol is not just nature. Rich in history and charm, the village is home to numerous castles, fortresses, and churches, notably Tirol Castle, a medieval residence that now houses the South Tyrol Museum of Culture and History. Walking through the village streets, you can feel the strong local traditions: agriculture, festivals, markets, and folk events reflect the area’s deep-rooted identity. Fruit and wine cultivation have always been important here, and Tirol has dedicated two thematic trails to these treasures: the Apple Trail and the Wine Trail.

To explore Tirol’s landscape and history, the village offers numerous walks, such as the Panorama Trail and the Herrschaftsweg, while the Tappeiner and Hans Falkner paths are known for their Mediterranean vegetation. Tirol also provides a wide range of leisure activities, from shops and boutiques to cafés, restaurants, swimming pools, and hiking trails. Whether for sport and adventure, relaxation and wellness, or culinary experiences, Tirol is the ideal destination for an authentic holiday amidst nature, culture, and the pleasures of life.
