Discovering Garniga Nuova

Located at around 1,000 meters above sea level in the heart of Trentino, Garniga Nuova is a peaceful mountain village known for its natural wellness traditions and privileged access to Monte Bondone, one of the region’s most beloved hiking destinations. As part of the municipality of Garniga Terme, Garniga Nuova offers a serene escape for those seeking physical and mental regeneration, surrounded by flowering meadows, conifer forests and sweeping views over the Adige Valley.

The village is historically renowned for its hay baths, a natural therapy that uses the healing properties of fermented alpine herbs. Although the Garniga Thermal Baths are no longer active, the tradition lives on through local accommodations that offer treatments inspired by folk medicine and natural healing.

From a hiking perspective, Garniga Nuova is an ideal starting point for treks into the Monte Bondone Nature Park, with trails leading through pastures, alpine huts and panoramic spots like the Camposaz Belvedere. In winter, the nearby Monte Bondone Nordic Ski Center offers cross-country skiing in a sunny, quiet basin, perfect for families and nature lovers.

Cultural highlights include the Church of Saint Oswald and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, both examples of alpine religious architecture. The Ethnographic Museum of Garniga Terme also provides insight into rural life and local traditions.
