Discovering Caines - Kuens

The small village of Caines, located just a few kilometers from Merano, is one of the smallest municipalities in Italy, yet it offers a surprising wealth of natural and cultural attractions. Nestled among the mountains of South Tyrol, it is a perfect starting point for hikes into the Sopranes Valley and the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park.

One of the most fascinating local sights is the Earth Pyramids of Caines: tall, pointed natural formations made of eroded sandstone, protected from collapse by large stones perched on top. A geological wonder that can be admired along panoramic trails.

For those interested in farming history and vintage machinery, the Tractor Museum at the Ungerichthof is a must-see. The collection includes over 30 Porsche-Diesel tractors, showcasing the evolution of agriculture in the region.
