Discovering Borgo Valsugana
In the heart of the Valsugana, Borgo Valsugana is an ideal destination for those who love to combine nature, culture, and outdoor activities. The village, recognized among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, offers countless opportunities to enjoy unforgettable experiences in every season.
One of the most popular attractions is the Valsugana Cycle Path, a route of over 80 km that connects Borgo Valsugana with Levico Terme and beyond, largely following the Brenta River. Suitable for families, cycling enthusiasts and bike tourists, the path offers panoramic views across lakes, forests, and charming villages, allowing visitors to explore the valley in a sustainable and fun way.
Looking up, you can admire the impressive Castel Telvana, which rises on the slopes of Monte Ciolino, offering a stunning panoramic view over the entire valley. Dating back to the 13th century, the castle was seriously damaged by a fire in 1665, then restored and turned into a baronial residence. Castel Telvana can be reached via the scenic Sentiero dei Castelli, but it is only visible from the outside, as it is currently a private residence.
Besides Castel Telvana, Borgo Valsugana preserves other important historic landmarks. The Church of Sant’Anna, built in 1600 and renovated in the late 18th century in rococo style, houses a refined series of frescoes by Giovanni Scajaro. The small San Rocco Oratory, built in 1500, features a late Gothic interior influenced by Venetian architecture.
In the nearby Val di Sella, the Hermitage of San Lorenzo al Monte, dating back to the Early Middle Ages, can be reached via a charming forest hike, offering a deep connection with history and nature. Lastly, the Sanctuary of Madonna di Onea, built in the early 17th century, is a popular pilgrimage site that houses the sacred image of the Madonna dell’Aiuto, a symbol of faith and devotion for the local community.
