Discovering Strigno
In the heart of eastern Valsugana, nestled between gentle hills and the slopes of the Lagorai Range, lies Strigno, a hamlet of the municipality of Castel Ivano in the province of Trento. This Trentino village, rich in history and culture, is an ideal destination for those seeking slow tourism, scenic hikes, and authentic alpine charm.
Strigno’s historic center is known for its refined early 20th-century architecture, with noble residences, historic fountains, and churches adorned with valuable artworks. Notable sites include the Church of the Immaculate Conception, featuring a medieval bell tower and paintings by Eugenio Prati and Giovanni Marchiori, and the Chapel of Our Lady of Loreto, considered a miraculous sanctuary. Also worth visiting are Palazzo Floriani, the Baroque-style Casa Ceschi, and the Dosso di Penile, an ancient prehistoric hillfort.
Strigno is a perfect starting point for excursions to Monte Lefre, home to WWI trenches and observation posts, the Monte Lefre Refuge, and the Cimone Viewpoint, offering sweeping views of Valsugana, the Asiago Plateau, and the Lagorai peaks. Just a few kilometers away lies Val Campelle, a paradise for summer trekking and winter snowshoeing, with trails leading to the Caldenave Refuge, the Inferno Lakes, and Cinque Croci Pass.
