Discovering Lamon

Located at 600 meters above sea level on the Lamon Plateau, Lamon is a charming village in the province of Belluno, nestled between the Dolomiti Bellunesi and the border with Trentino. Its panoramic setting and rich natural environment make it an ideal destination for hikers, cyclists, and lovers of Alpine culture. The area is crossed by the historic Via Claudia Augusta Altinate, an ancient Roman road that connected Altino (VE) to the Danube, with visible remains such as the Ponte Romano di Stalena, set in a landscape of rare beauty.

The historic center preserves valuable buildings like the Chiesa di San Pietro, built on Roman foundations, and the Chiesa di San Daniele Profeta, now deconsecrated and used for cultural events. Also worth visiting is the Museo Archeologico di Lamon, which houses artifacts from the Roman necropolis of San Donato.

Lamon is renowned for the Fagiolo di Lamon della Vallata Bellunese IGP, cultivated since the 16th century thanks to seeds gifted by Pope Clement VII to the Bellunese friar Pietro Valeriano. The main varieties—Spagnol, Spagnolet, Calonega, and Canalino—each have unique characteristics. This bean is a staple of local cuisine and the star of events like “A Tavola nel Feltrino,” held every September.

Visitors can enjoy trekking on Monte Coppolo, walks around Lago di Senaiga, explore the Bosco dei Violini, and taste local products such as honey, cheeses, and smoked sheep meat.
