Discovering Luserna

The village of Luserna, located in the Luserna Plateau and at the southern foothills of the Lagorai Mountains, is a small treasure of culture, history, and tradition. As the main center of the Cimbrian community, Luserna has preserved its Cimbrian language and ancient customs that make this area unique. Walking through the village, among stone houses and flowered balconies, visitors can feel an authentic atmosphere shaped by centuries of history and close ties to nature.

At the heart of the village’s cultural life is the Cimbrian Museum, which illustrates the history, traditions, and language of the community through exhibitions on local craftsmanship, daily life, and traditional festivals. Notable sites include the parish church of San Giacomo and small chapels scattered across the village and nearby hamlets, offering a glimpse into the local spirituality.

For lovers of nature and hiking, Luserna offers many trails through forests, pastures, and breathtaking alpine landscapes. Among the most enchanting is the Sentiero dell’Immaginario, a circular trail of about 7 km, easily walkable in two hours with minimal elevation gain. The trail is inspired by the legends and characters of the Cimbrian popular imagination, such as Frau Pertega and Tüsele Marüsele, and features wooden artworks by local artists, bringing to life the stories and creativity passed down through centuries.

In winter, the plateau becomes a paradise for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. Luserna is a place where culture, history, and nature intertwine, ideal for those seeking authentic experiences, discovering ancient traditions, and enjoying unspoiled, unforgettable landscapes.
