Discovering Piz Cotschen, Sella da

Located on the border between the Canton of Grisons and South Tyrol, Piz Cotschen—also known as Rötlspitze or Punta Rosa—is a 3,026-meter summit that dominates the alpine landscape with its reddish rock and breathtaking views over the Ortles Group. The Sella da Piz Cotschen, at 2,925 meters, is a prime access point for expert hikers and lovers of authentic mountain experiences, reachable from the Stelvio Pass via well-marked and historically rich trails.

This area is a true panoramic balcony over the Alps, perfect for high-altitude trekking, historic hikes, and nature photography. The trail passes by the Dreisprachenspitze, where three languages—Italian, German, and Romansh—converge, and offers stunning vistas of the Ortles glaciers, Val Muraun, and Val Trafoier. Along the way, visitors encounter remnants of World War I fortifications, tangible memories of an alpine past woven into the natural beauty of the region.
