Discovering Taufers im Münstertal
At the westernmost edge of South Tyrol, in the heart of Val Monastero, lies the charming village of Tubre, nestled among unspoiled nature and mountains. Home to around a thousand residents, this small town on the Swiss border is an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility, sports, and culture in every season.
In winter, Tubre is a true paradise for sports enthusiasts: part of the Ortler Skiarena, with 15 ski areas easily accessible, including Solda and Watles. Cross‑country skiing, sledging, ice skating, snowshoeing, and ski mountaineering enrich the winter offer. From spring to autumn, the landscape opens up to hikers, cyclists, and horse riders, with trails winding through farmsteads, alpine huts, and two stunning natural parks: Stelvio and Schweizer.
Tubre also captivates with its cultural heritage. Eight churches dot the village, notably San Giovanni with Romanesque and Gothic frescoes, the Chapel of St. Michael, now a parish museum, and St. Blasius with its late‑Gothic tower. The ruins of Castel Rotund and Castel Reichenberg tell a fascinating story steeped in history.
A short distance away, the Monastery of St. John in Müstair (UNESCO) and the Abbey of Monte Maria in Malles offer unique experiences of art, spirituality, and breathtaking views.
