Discovering Graun im Vinschgau

Curon Venosta (Graun im Vinschgau) is a municipality of about 2,450 inhabitants located in the Passo Resia holiday area, on the border with Austria and Switzerland. The area is characterized by the beautiful Lake Resia and Lake San Valentino, offering unique landscapes for walking, water sports, and relaxation in the Alpine nature.

Curon Venosta is especially famous for its Romanesque bell tower dating back to 1355, rising alone from the waters of Lake Resia. This tower is the only remaining witness of the old village of Curon, forcibly evacuated just days before the creation of the artificial lake in 1950. Its history fascinates visitors and makes it one of the most iconic and photographed sites in South Tyrol.

Today, the town develops on the shores of the lake in what is called New Curon, a modern settlement that in recent years has become a tourist center for both summer and winter. Cultural attractions include the local museum, offering guided tours in summer, and the Gothic church of Sant’Anna, from whose hill visitors enjoy spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Curon Venosta offers activities for every season. In summer, hiking, cycling, and walks along the lakes allow visitors to explore the local nature and history. In winter, the nearby Belpiano and Malga San Valentino ski areas offer slopes for all levels, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and family fun in the snow.

With its mix of nature, history, and sports, Curon Venosta is a complete destination, capable of thrilling anyone wishing to experience the Dolomites in every season.
