The Kleines Tor, also known as La Portella, is an alpine pass located at 2,374 m above sea level in the territory of Terento, in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of the Fundres Alps. This panoramic pass is an excellent hiking destination, situated along the Fundres High Trail (Pfunderer Höhenweg), one of the most spectacular and wild routes in South Tyrol. The Kleines Tor connects the Terento Valley with the Valles Valley, offering breathtaking views of peaks such as Terento Peak and Monte Gruppo.
The trail leading to Kleines Tor crosses unspoiled landscapes, among alpine pastures, historic mountain huts and glacial lakes. It is ideal for experienced hikers and high-altitude trekking enthusiasts, with the possibility of staying overnight at the Tiefrastenhütte Refuge, reachable in about 2 hours of walking. In summer, the area comes alive with alpine flora and offers silence, pure air and endless panoramas.
Although not an inhabited location, Kleines Tor represents a significant natural destination, perfect for those seeking authentic experiences among the less-traveled Dolomites. A place where time slows down and the mountain reveals itself in its purest form.
