Discovering Passo di Monte Croce di Comelico

Monte Croce di Comelico Pass, at 1,636 meters above sea level, is a scenic alpine pass between Veneto and South Tyrol, nestled between the Sesto Dolomites and the Carnic Alps. It’s an ideal destination for hiking, nature exploration, and outdoor sports all year round.

The pass connects Comelico Superiore (Province of Belluno) with Sesto (Sexten) in the Puster Valley, offering direct access to panoramic trails leading to Mount Covolo, Nemes Alpine Pasture, Coltrondo Hut, and Klammbachalm, suitable for both families and experienced trekkers.

Surrounded by spruce forests, alpine meadows, and views of the iconic Three Peaks of Lavaredo, the area is rich in natural beauty. In winter, the pass links to the 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski resort, with access to slopes for alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The Monte Croce Mountain Hut and nearby alpine farms offer traditional cuisine and warm hospitality.

Historically significant, the pass was a strategic point during World War I, and still bears traces of the former border line between the Cadore and Puster Valley regions.

Easily reachable from San Candido (Innichen), Santo Stefano di Cadore, and Auronzo di Cadore, the Monte Croce di Comelico Pass is a must-visit for those seeking unspoiled nature, alpine hospitality, and authentic outdoor experiences in the heart of the Dolomites.
