Discovering Mosigo lake

The Mosigo Lake (also known as Lake San Vito) is a small body of water just a short walk from the center of San Vito di Cadore. Not suitable for swimming and created in 1929 by reclaiming a marshy area, today it is the perfect place for walks, relaxation and photography. Its crystal-clear waters reflect iconic peaks such as Antelao, Croda Marcora, Sorapis and Pelmo, while the lakeside offers green areas, a playground and picnic spots. On the shore stands the historic Chalet al Lago, a restaurant and hotel that embodies the warm alpine hospitality of the area.


This landscape, often called the “green lung of Cadore,” is a precious habitat for wildlife and migratory birds, framed by pine and fir forests. The beauty of the Mosigo Lake also served as a set for the TV series Un passo dal cielo, boosting its popularity without losing its tranquil charm. Easily accessible from Cortina d’Ampezzo, it is an ideal destination for families, couples and outdoor enthusiasts seeking authentic nature and exceptional Dolomite views.
