Discovering Misurina lake

At 1,754 meters above sea level, in the municipality of Auronzo di Cadore, Misurina Lake is the largest natural lake in the Cadore area and one of the most scenic in the Belluno Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its crystal-clear waters reflect the majestic peaks of Sorapiss, Cristallo, the Cadini di Misurina, and the iconic Three Peaks of Lavaredo, offering postcard-perfect landscapes in every season.


The area is known for its unique microclimate, especially beneficial for respiratory health, and is home to the only European Center for Childhood Asthma Treatment. Around the lake, visitors can enjoy panoramic walks, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ski touring in winter, while in summer it serves as a starting point for hikes to mountain huts and Dolomite summits. The Col de Varda chairlift provides access to scenic trails with spectacular views.


Misurina is also steeped in legend, with the tale of Princess Misurina and King Sorapiss adding charm and mystery to the visit. Its proximity to Cortina d’Ampezzo, Dobbiaco, and Antorno Lake makes it ideal for nature and cultural itineraries.
